Projects for 2024!

As always life contains many projects and goals. Hopefully we can do these, and read lots of books, play lots of board games, do lots of puzzles and walks in the woods…

Knitting

Sweaters for the kids – Done! – These will be TinCanKnits Trek sweaters in Kelbourne Woolens Scout yarn. Except I’m adding more colorwork and will be steaking them to make cardigans. Hopefully it goes as planned!

Crochet Afghan – This is a wishlist item. I’d like to try crocheting and afghan and I could use more wool blankets. We’ll see!

Flip mittens for the boys – I want to make them wool convertible mittens/gloves. I have a pattern, so hopefully these will be Christmas gifts.

Scarf/cowl for the girl – In Progress! – She has flip mittens from her brothers, but she doesn’t have a scarf yet… Hopefully for Christmas!

Sewing

Fabric book – Done! – This is a Christmas present for the girl. It has sea creatures and I’m going to embroider her name on it!

Wool comforter – Done! So Fluffy! – This is also for the girl, we got a last quilt bat from the mill before they retired, it’s super warm and fluffy.

Fiber Crafts
Embroidered Bookmarks – I think this would be a fun Christmas gift for my parents. I’d like to make gloves or hats too, but that’s a lot of knitting and I don’t know about the fit. And everyone has way too much going on. And they love books and tend to make notes so I think bookmarks would be fun, useful and easy to enjoy.

Needle Felting – This is a thing I want to learn. I want to make things for the kids, and maybe cat toys. This is another we’ll see!

Garden

Front kitchen garden – This is my garden, it will have beds for tomatoes, peppers, beans, cucumbers, lettuce, herbs and root vegetables plus roses and native flowers and strawberries and blackberries and currants.

Front of house – This will be cleaning up the old landscaping and planting it densely with native grass and flowers like rudbeckias, coneflowers, asters, false sunflowers, prairie clover, false indigo and grasses.

Back of house – This will either be mulch or ground cover like wild ginger, maybe ferns.

Back garden – This will get cleared out and next year, for real!, there will be squash, onions, potatoes, garlic, etc back there!

Back yard – The former tree area will get cleaned up to be play space for the kids.

Top of driveway – This is a wishlist item, I’d like it to be flowers. Hopefully!

House Projects
Floor – Still have the upstairs hallway and the girl’s room to get the old carpet out of, and probably replace the carpet on the stairs.

Shelves – So many shelves that would be nice to do, a wall shelf and bookshelf in the sewing room, a bench in PAN’s room and wall shelves, shelves in the kids’ rooms, shelves in our room, shelves in the school room, shelves in the basement. Everything is easier with more shelves. 🙂 At least if you love books…

Basement play area – This needs shelves! And a little more organizing.

Basement back area – This needs organizing and clearing out and cleaning and re-arranging. So much of those things…

Wooden table for kitchen – Currently the built in table is a piece of counter top, we’d like to make it wood. Shouldn’t be too hard, but a lot to do. Hopefully!

Headboard – Our bed needs a new headboard, preferably one with a shelf for books, need time though, so hopefully! – Done (enough)!

Under-bed drawers – Storage for those rare things that don’t go on shelves! All the beds need these, we have 1 but definitely need more.
